Emerald Mod

A request from the GM

First, I am not trying to point fingers at anyone in this post.

Now that that's said...

I've noticed that some misunderstandings have cropped up in this game, and I'd like to head any more off at the pass (and, again, I am not trying to blame anyone). Therefore, I'm making the following request:

If you are unhappy with a ruling I've made, or have a problem with something I've done in the game, PLEASE e-mail me (emerald.mod AT gmail DOT com) before you make a post or comment in either emerald_facets or emfacets_ooc. The same thing goes if you have a problem with another player (as detailed herein).

Hopefully, this should keep any miscommunication from spilling over into the game at large, which doesn't contribute to anyone's fun.

Thank you,
The GM

Clarification of the rules

Please try to confine OOC posting to this community, or to private e-mails, if at all possible. The IC community is not the place for extended OOC conversations. Extended OOC conversations in the IC community may be deleted without warning.

(editing this a bit for clarity)

Extended OOC conversations should be held here in emfacets_ooc (as opposed to emerald_facets); that's the reason this community was created in the first place. :) Brief OOC comments in the IC community are OK, but long(er) discussions should be moved here if possible. You can link to the relevant thread or comment in emerald_facets, but I'd prefer that that community be reserved for IC interactions.

Thank you,
Your GM

Life has swallowed me whole

I'm very sorry for my extended absence. Participating in National Novel Writing Month, plus (finally!) starting a new job this week has eaten a great deal of my time of late. And now I'm going to be tied up until about Monday the 27th with having family in for (US) Thanksgiving.

Things should be calming down for me with the end of November, however, so I'll have a more time to devote to this game after this month is over (no more frenetic writing sessions trying to make my NaNo quota!).

Thank you all for your patience, and again, I'm very sorry to have neglected emerald_facets this month. You're a wonderful group, and you deserve better. I'm going to try my best to give that to you soon.

Thank you,
Your GM

To recruit or not to recruit?

That is the question.

Shakespeare references aside, though, I'm wondering if I ought to open this game up to other people, since Real Life seems to have eaten about four of our players.

I'm leery of just throwing it open, however, given experiences I've had with other LJ games I've run - where I got people who antagonized other players, submitted characters that were nothing but a collection of "kewl powerz," were too oversensitive, or just didn't fit in with the rest of the group. There were also people who participated in one or two scenes and then just...vanished (Seriously. They were there, and then they were gone.).

On the other hand, I really like this game and all of you, and I don't want to see it die for lack of players. I've had that happen more than once with other games I've GMed and played in, and it's never been pleasant for anyone involved.

So, opinions on opening this game up to other people? As andreu_blackman's player said a while ago, the setting seems to encourage it....

New moot post

I realize some scenes are still ongoing (unfortunately, Real Life seems to have eaten a couple of our players), but I'd really like to get the characters together so they can share some intel (and thus, move the plot along).

So, I'm putting up another moot post in the IC community. Apologies to the folks whose scenes are not yet complete (for whatever reason).
